Our day off & The Turnagain Arm

Photos From Summer 2009

If you have been harassing Belugas, watch your back. Their on to you!

A couple of my roommates & I went down to the Mud Flats along the Turnagain Arm, just to check it out.  The Flats, are infamous for its quicksand like characteristics.

Of course we decide, to build a trail to a boulder that was about 70 feet out into the flats.

Our trail to Lonely Rock is complete!

KATMAI

Photos from Alaska Summer 2009

Katmai National Park has an estimated population of 2,000 grizzly bears. We camped out by Brooks River, which has the worlds largest sockeye salmon run in peak season.

This Park is located on the Alaska Peninsula southwest of Anchorage.

We got a chance to see up to 50 to 70 bears.  This may sound like a tall tail, but check out the photos!

We hitched a ride on this 7 passenger float plane to our campsite.

This bear was just chillin on the beach when we landed on Naknek Lake.

Brooks River & The Bears!!!

A wolf came by to snag some scraps left over from the bears.

The bears loved to bask in the sun on the beach of our campsite.

Naknek Lake

This photo was taken from the top of Dumpling Mountian.

What you see is the 1.5 mile long Brooks River.

It flows from Brooks Lake into Naknek Lake.

Back to Brooks River.

The airport in the little town of King Salmon.

Take a close look and you’ll see the huge variety of snacks in their vending machine!
